The Benefits of Micro-needling to improve the skin
Microneedling
Smooth, Firm, Toned Skin
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that encourages collagen production using tiny, sterilised needles.
Microneedling is delivered by a motorised pen with tiny slender needles to create thousands of channels up to 2.5 mm deep. These channels disrupt photoaged wrinkled or scarred tissue to allow for the remodelling of new skin to occur.
A new collagen and elastin matrix is created, continuing for several months. It is an excellent maintenance treatment for delaying the ageing process. It may help smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, and wrinkles and large pores.
Microneedling has great success in reducing the appearance of scars, particularly acne scarring. Stretch marks can be treated, this may take several treatments over a period of time, but results are very good.
Microneedling and Hair Loss
Microneedling can effectively benefit several different types of hair loss, Androgenetic Alopecia, more commonly know as male pattern baldness can also occur in women particularly post menopause.
Microneedling assists hair loss by increasing endothelial growth factor release which has been shown to promote hair growth, increases follicle size and encourages platelet derived growth factor. Combined with the use of minoxidil, microneedling increases the absorption of the product giving far better treatment results.
Is Microneedling Safe?
Microneedling is minimally invasive, requiring little downtime.
It’s considered safe for most people who are in overall good health. The procedure may not be used with certain acne medications, those with active acne, or those with moderate to severe psoriasis or eczema. A full consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to check suitability.
Results appear gradually as your body produces collagen. You may see improvement within a few weeks. It usually takes several months before you see full results. Booking a course of sessions is the best way to achieve results.
What About Nano-Needling?
Nano-needling is a non-invasive procedure that involves the use of a microneedling pen with a gentler nano tip, not needles as the name might suggest. It uses very tiny cones formed of silicone or stainless steel that do not penetrate the skin but do help with resurfacing and product infusion.
Mesotherapy can be used with either microneedling or nano needling, it only affects the very topmost layer of skin.
Mesotherapy increases the permeability of the stratum corneum allowing skincare products to penetrate a little bit deeper. Typical skincare products that are used are hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C & polypeptides
Nano needling can also improve skin texture, boost hydration as well as address signs of premature skin ageing. The most immediate, visible change in the skin is a hydrating glow.
