Sleep Disruption in Menopause
An Online Menopause Service You Can Trust
I am passionate about helping women to navigate their way through the turbulent times that the menopause can bring. If you are struggling with menopause currently or preparing for it, I am here to help.
My menopause service provides consultations for clients across the UK which can be carried out via online video call or telephone at your convenience.
For new clients an initial consultation is required to discuss your medical history, lifestyle and symptoms. This initial consultation is up to 60 minutes in length and will give me the relevant information to provide you with the best management plan and treatment options.
My Menopause Experience
My experience of menopause started 12 years ago when I was 45. Even though I am medically trained I did not realise or understand the impact that it would have on my life. It's fair to say it crept up on me! Everyone will experience different symptoms, although the most common symptoms are fairly well known such as hot flushes and fatigue.
Looking back at my perimenopause I now realise that I had been experiencing hot flushes, sleeplessness, brain fog and fatigue that was at times all consuming. I had also started to experience stiff and painful joints that had prevented me from exercising for a couple of years.
It is sometimes difficult to determine which symptoms are due to menopause or which are related to something else. It never really crossed my mind that I should seek help or that my symptoms were due to getting older, yes I can see you smile at this!
My HRT journey was a revelation. I felt like I was back to being me again. My energy levels returned and my 'zest' returned along with my enthusiasm for exercise and the desire for new experiences. I felt like leaping out of bed in the morning instead of rolling over and going back to sleep. That's just an example of how menopause affected me. Your story may be similar or very different.
Your Online Menopause Consultation
Prior to your online consultation I will email you a questionnaire, which you will need to complete and send back to me before our initial consultation. This questionnaire will help to give you food for thought whilst providing me the opportunity to fully understand your situation.
A full online consultation can take around an hour and will be an in depth conversation covering all aspects of menopause and the symptoms that may be affecting your life.
As a private practitioner I will not have access to your medical records, therefore I will ask about your medical history and current medications. It would be helpful if you can present a list of prescribed medications.
The online consultation will be relaxed and unhurried. I will supply advice, guidance and knowledge, as well as treatment options to create a shared plan of care. I will be able to prescribe suitable treatments such as HRT if needed.
It may take a bit of tweaking to get the right treatment for you, as such a follow up consultation and treatment review will be required at two months. My service does include a free follow up call after two weeks of starting your treatment.
Your online consultation is strictly confidential and adheres to UK GDPR regulations as recommended by the ICO. I work within clinical guidelines as recommended by NICE and the British Menopause Society.
Consultation Process
Your online consultation will be arranged and booked with you choosing a suitable and convenient time slot. The consultation can be either a phone call or video call as preferred by you. A consultation fee of £120 is required when the booking is made.
The consultation is an unrushed time slot of up to 60 minutes to enable a full medical history to be taken. We will discuss menopausal symptoms and treatments tried so far, taking into consideration lifestyle factors.
Prior to the the consultation an email will be sent to you asking to have a list of usual medications available and a symptom checker form which you can pre-fill.
At the end of the consultation a tailored treatment plan will be discussed.
Prescriptions
Hormone replacement therapy will be prescribed if suitable. An email with the treatment plan and dosage instructions will be forwarded to you for your own records.
A private prescription will be issued using an online pharmacy which will deliver HRT medications directly to the you.
A month’s supply of medication may cost around £20-£40 plus delivery depending on which formulation is used. There will be no profit on the medication cost.
A letter will be issued to your GP if you consent to sharing information. I recommend that your GP is made aware of the treatment which can then be added to your repeat prescriptions as an NHS prescription. The benefit is that a prepayment certificate is available to avoid prescription charges for most HRT.
Follow Up
A follow up review at 2 months will be booked to monitor symptoms, check compliance and discuss any side effects or medication titrations. The cost of the follow up review is £70.
A courtesy call will be made at around 2 weeks following prescription issue, free of charge to ensure dosage and usage instructions are understood and to answer any queries relating to medication or side effects. This is to ensure your safety and reassurance.
